Yagami Taichi

Yagami Taichi "Tai Kamiya" is one of the DigiDestined children. He is very adventurous and wears a set of goggles, a trait that is common amongst the various DigiDestined leaders. He is the older brother to Yagami Hikari (Kari Kamiya), and is very protective of her. Because he is a leader, he often acts without thinking or realizing the consequences of his actions. This soon becomes a problem between his friend and rival, Ishida Matt (Matt Ishida), and his oldest friend he knew since childhood, Takenouchi Sora, as it leads him to moments of guilt. However, in times of need, he manages to do whatever that is necessary to save the people closest to him, meaning his close friends and family, from any situation or danger. Tai may also be a little bit hot-headed at times, but he posesses a soft spot a mile away, especially to his parents, his little sister, and his best friend, Sora.

In the second season, following the first one, Digimon Adventure 02, Taichi changes and matures greatly and looses his goggles (he gives it to Davis after he breaks his own). He enteres high school, and becomes much more handsome and good-looking. Although he still posesses his ready-for-anything-with-action attitude, he is a much more experienced leader, more calmer than when he was younger and does not act without thinking anymore. In Revenge of Diaboromon movie, Taichi is the leader of both generations of DigiDestined, and shows the definition of a true leadership. When he finally becomes aware of Sora's feelings towards Matt, he understands, drops the subject and lets it go.

In the year 2027, which ends the second season, Taichi becomes a United Nations Diplomat for the Digital World. He is married and has a son, whose partner is Koromon, however, his wife is not Sora. Taichi's wife is not revealed.

Opinion

To be honest, when I first began showing intrest in anime, my vert first crush was on Taichi. And I'm serious when I say this. He is my definition of a true leader; big poofy hair, goggles, gloves, and humungous shoes, cocky attitude, hot-headed and stubborn. Yup. That totally goes in my book. XD However, when I began watching the second season, my obsession with him grew. Tai not only matures physically, but he also matures emotionally. He no longer becomes that stubborn, hot-headed and cocky leader, but instead, he matures greatly as a leader and becomes a sweetheart. He still has a bit of his edgy personality, but that's really okay, because that was what got me to adore him in the first place. XD He gets to the point where he grows from being a stubborn and cocky kid, to a well, strong-built and couragouse and experienced leader, who has a heart of gold and cares deeply about his family and friends.
